On Tuesday the 12th of July, Mhoze Chikowore launched his groundbreaking book African Music, Power & Being in Colonial Zimbabwe. Sekuru Gweshe entertained guests with his Mbira and Albert Chimedza the director of the Mbira Centre introduced the author & the book and how it is relevant to the work he and others are doing.

Mhoze Chikowore then gave a presentation on why he came up with the book and a brief on some issues the book touches on. After this everyone engaged in a Q&A session of intelligent discussions around our history & culture in relation to Zimbabwe’s colonial past. Legendary Zimbabwean musician Zexie Manatsa also performed at the end. The audience was made up of different representatives from the music, art and culture community in Zimbabwe. Chief Chihota was also in attendance.
